WHICH INDUSTRIES HAVE THE HIGHEST STAFF TURNOVER RATES? (April 2, 2019)

 LinkedIn recently used the data from its more than half a billion members to establish which sectors, industries and jobs have the highest levels of turnover.

LinkedIn says it’s most significant insight was that there is a worldwide turnover rate of 10.9 per cent, “defined as the percent of LinkedIn members who indicated they left a company” in a given year.

The sectors with the most talent turnover internationally:

1. Technology (software, not hardware)             13.2%
2. Retail and consumer products                        13%
3. Media and entertainment                                11.4%
4. Professional services                                     11.4%
5. Government/Edu/Non-profit                           11.2%
6. Financial services and insurance                   10.8%
7. Telecommunications                                      10.8%
8. Oil and energy                                                9.7%
9. Aero/Auto/Transport                                       9.6%
10. Healthcare and pharmaceutical                     9.4%

According to LinkedIn, the top reasons people leave their jobs are:

1. Concern about lack of opportunities for advancement
2. Dissatisfaction with the leadership of senior management
3. Dissatisfaction with work environment/culture
4. The desire for more challenging work
5. Dissatisfaction with the compensation/benefits
6. Dissatisfaction with rewards/recognition
