WHICH INDUSTRIES HAVE THE HIGHEST STAFF TURNOVER RATES? (April 2, 2019)
LinkedIn recently used the data from its more than half a billion members to establish which sectors, industries and jobs have the highest levels of turnover.
LinkedIn says it’s most significant insight was that there is a worldwide turnover rate of 10.9 per cent, “defined as the percent of LinkedIn members who indicated they left a company” in a given year.
The sectors with the most talent turnover internationally:
- Technology (software, not hardware) 13.2%
- Retail and consumer products 13%
- Media and entertainment 11.4%
- Professional services 11.4%
- Government/Edu/Non-profit 11.2%
- Financial services and insurance 10.8%
- Telecommunications 10.8%
- Oil and energy 9.7%
- Aero/Auto/Transport 9.6%
- Healthcare and pharmaceutical 9.4%
According to LinkedIn, the top reasons people leave their jobs are:
- Concern about lack of opportunities for advancement
- Dissatisfaction with the leadership of senior management
- Dissatisfaction with work environment/culture
- The desire for more challenging work
- Dissatisfaction with the compensation/benefits
- Dissatisfaction with rewards/recognition
